how does virtual memory work in leopard as opposed to the phsicial memory?

how can safari be runnin 20% and itunes 90% (jumps up and down but fairly consistently over 100% cpu usage)

thought you could only use 100% of your cpu, for obvious numerical reasons.

CPU and memory are two completely different things...

Virtual memory AFAIK is the extra memory allocated from the HDD, on top of the physical RAM in the computer

Ah right, didn't realise they were 2 separate questions

Regarding the 2nd question, haven't a clue TBH!

    Yup.

Each core represents 100 percent. So in a dual core the max CPU usage is 200 percent.

thaught my activity monitor was screwed up.

so dual core is twice the processing - not speed just the numbers - but one harddrive?
