HELP Belkin Router, disaster ! Warning long post, need questions answered.

OK... I am with Eircom..I used to have the Netopia router but got rid of it because I couldnt get a Nat Type 2...so i bought a Belkin last November(terrible decision) heard they were abit dodgy but the fela in the shop said it should be ok..
For setting it up, as you do I rang the helpline to give me steps to do it..Its an English company I think based in England..OMG the people answering the phones were a disgrace, Indians they were, bad English and there was a 3 or 4 second delay..Head wrecking..EVENTUALLY I got it up and running..grand connection..I also have a wired Nat 1 Keep it Carlow thing on my ps3 settings...
Anyway I noticed the odd week since I got I couldnt sign in on PSN..my router was disconnected from the internet.. I reset it and grand, working again..i could deal with that...this summer nearly everytime Ive wanted to play the playstation I would have to plug out and reset the router, and Im particularly always getting signed out of EA on fifa:mad:..

OUESTION 1
I was thinking, my modem/router is in the attic(attic room conversion) its very hot up there in the summer, the machine does feel very hot, could it be "overheating" and be causing this problem??? seen as though it never happened in the winter???

QUESTION 2
Back in May, after reseting router over and over I said FCUK IT and I set up the Netopia hoping that would work..I am set up as WEP with the Netopia, but I think Im different with the Belkin, maybe WPA, and instead of PPPOE I think I could be PPPOA..I couldnt get it going..i put back in the Belkin and eventually got it going again. Ever since then my PS3 has been alot worse, most notably, the Internet browser on the PS3 is alot slower, especially for movies such like you tube which ran smooth and fast now there really slow and unwatchable...... Question is, taking out the Belkin and putting in the Netopia again, could that have changed some important settings or something??? and caused all this..To be honest it was grand before I ever done that except the odd sign out that I could deal with !

IF I was buying a new modem/router which one would be the best?..Netgear, linksys etc??? I would like one that the people on the helpline speak decent English and are helpful;) Last time setting it up over the phone was a disaster.

QUESTION 4
Would giving my PS3 a static IP or a DMZ would work??I have a NAT 1 MTU 1500 connection with eircom and broadband 1 as password, would it still work with that specific connection type...
Regardless, can somebody tell me how to put ur PS3s IP address into the DMZ on router..Im confused, where is the IP address on the PS3..Is it in PS3s "Settings and Connection Status List"??? If so its usually 86.42. etc..I have put this number into DMZ on modem/router, and then, that number changes on the ps3...for example it goes from 86.42.241.76 to 86.42.245.82..Why is that??
OR does it have to be something like 192.168.24 or something??? Im confused

Anywho, thanks for reading, and Im sorry for the long post but I had to do it to explain my situation... The Belkin is very very annoying..Its an odd piece of equipment..works perfectly then BANG no matter what u do it wont work..It has a mind of its own... So anybody out there DO NOT BUY A BELKIN ROUTER !:mad:

Id appreciate any help or advice...
I may even be able to sort somebody out with COD5 map packs if they can be a great help;)

Get a White Netopia one. The ones you get with UPC. Get the cheapest one though as that works grand for me:D
