Couldnt believe my luck, after watching the tour highlights the British Tri series was on. I couldn't figure out though how come non of them had tim trial bikes, is there a rule against them? and only a handful of the competitors had clip on aero bars, given that I only saw one guy using them

Don't think you can use TT bikes in draft legal races.

Couldn't believe my luck either, that series is a great one to watch. The end of the show mentioned Blenheim as being the next event, wondering when it will be shown?

Also - would it be a good idea to have a sticky for Triathlon TV coverage? I know that there is stuff on five, eurosport, setanta, sometimes sky sports and maybe others like itv. By its nature, coverage is not regular, so a sticky would be a great way to put up alerts when shows are upcoming.

At the weekend ESPN had an hours programme showing the 70.3 tri from China, it was quality. I always keep an eye out on that channel, SKy no: 417.

Caught this last night too. The draft legal and non-TT bike makes sense now. couldn't figure it out last night. I did notice a couple of sets of tri-bars though. Surely they would be banned too?

I also noticed that most bikes had 2 water bottles on them. Is this normal for an Olympic or is it just that the elites need the extra fluids?

u guys seem to know about triathlon....was watching a british championship tri or something akin on sky sports last nite..... the guy that won it ran the 10km section in (according to the commentator) 30mins 39secs approx........now maybe this is me being a cynical running only competitor but surely the course would have to be short for him to run this sort of time, considering it came off the back of swimming and cycling (40km)....added to this he had a spill off his bike that left him with a cut arm:eek:

i think his name was Clarke...... (and I know it's international standard tri competition but this time sounds ridiculously fast)

European Elite Champs were on last weekend, the fastest run split (and fastest overall / Euro champ Javier Gomez) was 31:00 and all top 12 finishers were under 32:00 mins. So, yeah, impressive times for 10k, especially at the end of a triathlon.

This comes up a bit wondering if the course is short. Sometimes it is alright, but the pros would be aiming to do sub 30 on a flat 10k after the cycle. The drafting on the cycle makes it a little easier apparently.

Oh the following website has coverage of the Elite series, one on this weekend. They stream it live for free- it's not that easy to follow but it's under the free stuff on the Right hand side of the page. Some exciting finishes already this year...

i asssumed the reason they weren't using tt bikes is because it was a twisty up-and-down, multiple lap course. often see this at elite level - they only use the full on tt bikes where there's a relaitively straight course?

The 7th question down addresses the issue.

I spotted that Channel have been doing coverage of UK tri events on Sunday mornings at 8.00am (I watch it on C4+1...it is a Sunday after all)
It was in Windsor last Sunday and the amatuer age groupers were looking to beat PB's for OD of 1hr58...savage!!
