This is random and hopefully someone can offer advice on this...

I have an exam in late August that is causing serious stress and anxiety... I cant sleep, I've lost my appetite and am seriously panicky already. I cant concentrate because it's so important...

The exam commision say on their website that in certain circumstances, it is possible to complete an assignment/project in place of the exam.

This would take pressure off me as I am making myself physically ill from the stress.

My issue is that as I havent told a doctor of my situation, how can I get a note to say that it would be better for myself to do assignment rather than exam. I dont have a GP as such as I live away from home and have never really needed a doctor in Dublin.

Hey there sorry to hear your so stressed out i know how you feel....i recommend you get a gp asap sit down with them and explain your anxiety and lack of sleep they are usually very helpful and will sugest a number of ways in which to naturally relax...time is ticking so i would get a move on and register with one so that all the appropiate arrangements can be made

    Hi,
Just a thought, you should defo go to GP asap but for the sleep/stress: I used to have sleep problems due to a host of reasons and the best thing for me turned out to be LOTS of exercise and in a routine. If you are really tired physically it is very hard to not get a decent nights sleep. also the routine helps you focus on what you are aiming at. ie get up have a big breakfast, go to gym/pool/jog and you are set up for the day. also the added health benefits.

Also I know it may seem ironic that I am posting late and giving advice on sleep but am heading to be now :)

It's just an exam.. while it may be important..
But my mother's advise always pop into my head..
You just give it your best shot and see what happens..

The way I see it you have until August which is a month for one exam..
You just need to study hard but take it bit by bit each day..
Do exams questions from past papers or any question that may be asked during the exam..
There's no such thing as can't concentrate..
You just have to tune out all your distraction (facebook, etc) and plan your realistic schedule out and follow it through

    Good luck

    Hey there,

I know exactly how you feel. I was the same when I was doing my final exams for my degree.

I bought this hypnosis cd from www.opencircle.ie for stress and it really helped me to relax.

Sure it wont pass your exam for you but it takes away the nearves and allows you to focus on getting the work done.

Hope you get through this :)
