The rear window wiper of my estate is faulty. Will it fail the NCT because of this?

Not sure, everything factory fitted is supposed to work.
    Check manual www.ncts.ie/nctmanual.pdf

It don't matter as not all cars have a rear wiper, same with the rear window washer.

So, if my heated seats stop working, that's an NCT fail?

    WINDSCREEN WIPERS AND WASHERS
    Method of Testing
    1. Switch on the windscreen wipers and washers and check for operation and security and that the wipers move at an
appropriate speed over an arc of the windscreen glass which is sufficient to give the driver an adequate view.
    2. Check the wiper control.
    3. Examine the condition of the wiper arms and blades. Check that the springs are not weak or broken.
    4. Check wiper linkage for wear.
    5. Check that the windscreen washer(s) function satisfactorily.
    NOTES:
    (a) Washers will be considered as being fitted if there is any part of a washer system fitted.
    (b) This test only applies to front windscreens.

Even if it was they would probably be too lazy to check it.

Mines faulty on my estate, all they checked was the condition of

the rubber on the blade. So your motor chould pass on that.

I dont think a rear wiper is needed for Nct but I would have assumed
an electrical faulth of some sort would be a fail..

On the other hand if this happend...
A missing wind deflector on the passanger side of my aunts import 323 brought a failed report, we brought it back up to him an hour later and shoved it in his face that it is not a requirement for the test and we were given the cert staight away.

the only way they can fail it is if it is broken and a danger to pedestrians.

It was simply missing from the car so it was failed by an over enthusiastic idiot who admitted he made a mistake after a 30 second argument.
