I hope the MODs will let this timely warning message stay for a while under the present circumstances weather-wise....

Its currently thunder and lightening outside my home.

Unless your pc/laptop is protected by surge/spike protection sockets, please consider turning off and unplugging your systems till your sure that thunder/lightening has gone past for some minutes.

I've seen too many motherboards and hard-drives ruined beyond repair this last few years for lack of foresight.

Probably lives in the country since he can't read what Biggin's location says.

    I've a Surge protector, I'm safe. It's a like a condom for electricity's little spurts .

It's more likely that I'll have a fire from an overload... since I have a train of extension leads and such running across the floor in a tangle of cables. 13 amp sockets can draw more than 13 amps....

Home is in the Louth direction. Surges are a serious curse to mothernoards, Ram and hard-drives.
I know its not the pc section - but I hope a quick reminder about the risks to anyone in a dodgy weather area will help saved someones machine.

I dunno. Lightning got that stuck popcorn kernel out from under my keyboard.
You sure it's not ok for me to be posting this hanging off the lightning conductor on the roof of this church?

Is it a Catholic church or a Protestant church?
