Gas meter

    Hi,

I recently moved into a new house, and I'm having trouble reading the Gas meter. The meter uses an LCD display rather than a needle, but there are no numbers showing on the display, it's just blank. I've looked around for a button to turn the display on, but can't find anything.

Is it likely to be broken? I've spoken to the gas company (British gas, this is in London), who aren't very helpful. They'll have to send someone around to look at it, and if it's just a matter of finding a switch, I'd feel like a bit of an idiot.

    Cheers
