:confused: Our friends have recently got married. He is from Sligo and his family have organised a "Straw Party". Could somebody please tell me what this is, what happens at one, and what would the dress code be - if there is one. Cheers :D

It's the straw boys that dress up (other people there don't).

Check out http://www.sligoheritage.com .He has an interesting video all about the making of the strawboys 'costumes'. A group of them met up one night and videoed the whole thing. You should find this very interesting.

I was at a wedding not so long ago, and the straw boys were there! Altho kinda scary when you first come across them, it's great craic, they usually play music/get the crowd dancing, it's best enjoyed if you get as many people as possible to join in :D Have fun!
