Hit and Run

A few weeks back I called to a friends house to collect her and accidently I bumped into another car, I ran out and checked if there was any damage to either car as I saw no damage, I left the area. Last week, the guards called to my house, saying that I have been reported as being a hit a run by an eye witness, the guard read me my rights and said that had to give a statement. I gave the statement stating the above and the guard said the owner wants 300 euro damages for the car, this was an old car with no tax or insurance which had been illegally parked. Anyway, the real issue at stake is my job, my job requies guarda vetting every year and I wouldnt mind paying the money and putting it behind me. However this is a traffic offence so it may mean I could lose my job as well. Is there anyway I can get the charges dropped?? What is the best course of action.. freaking out. Also, by definition how is this a hit and run, as noone was injured and it was just a tip?

You should talk to a solicitor. We cannot give legal advice here
