Can't blame him its puke football.

Would'n be surprised if someone got seriously hurt in the Monaghan Derry game this weekend.

Really? Is it actually because of the northern teams ''bating the siht outa each other'' style of play?

yea me too. The term puke football is obviously just the way he/she describes badly played football.

Big blow for derry, will only have one bradley to rely on now

    Is this a wind up?

Don't think this is due to Bradley being upset or having fallen out with any part of the management team in Derry. If it was then his brother would have surely followed him and he hasn't. Think the simplest explanation is usually the correct one and word on the street has it that he just wants time to recapture some of his form and he has a better chance of doing that with his club glenullin than with nDoire!

Was he banned for saying that word?!...hmm ....this is a shock i wonder why he has done it?if anyone has ny info let us knw!

Paddy Bradley has been super for about 5 or 6 years. He will be a huge loss to Derry.

I would'nt be suprised if more go. I often wonder about Derry football it seems fairly tough. Your man Kielth got a broken jaw a few weeks ago in a club game, just wonder how these lads sit down in a dressing room with some of the stuff that goes on. Look at the treatment the McGuigans got in Tyrone ITS CRAZY STUFF.
Mind you it happens in more places than the Ulster counties.

Think that's bad. Tommy Freeman got banned for 8 weeks for impersonating a pidgeon.

i'm sure the two know each other . they're can't be anything wrong with using the term 'puke football' . it's discrimination really if one is not allowed use their own terms for something as long as it does not bother anyone , in this case i don'tthink it should . blackbelt ???

Derry County Board have issued statement denying completely that Paddy Bradley has left the panel, saying that he has taken full part in training and that they expect him to continue to do so.

P*** football was Pat Spillanes term. How nice if he could be just banned from our midst for even a few days!

But wasn't it after the last session that he said he was quitting? Huge loss not only for Derry but the GAA in general.

Bradley a massive loss to Derry. A focal point of their attack, and is their scorer in chief. Saw Limerick play Derry twice in the qualifiers in 04 and 05 and he was the difference between the sides on both occasions. A class act. The match at the weekend is now Monaghan's to lose. *Mods banning someone for saying 'puke football'?? Presume its a windup.

    http://www.independent.ie/sport/gaa-championships/gaelic-football/derry-thrown-into-disarray-as-bradley-quit-rumours-denied-by-county-board-1808940.html

AFTER a season that started with great promise, Derry's year has been in sharp decline and ahead of their crunch qualifier clash with Monaghan on Saturday, the county board has been forced to deny reports that Paddy Bradley had quit the panel.

It was reported early yesterday that the Glenullin sharpshooter informed manager Damian Cassidy of his intention to leave the panel after an internal game last Sunday.

When contacted by the Irish Independent, Bradley refused to comment on the issue but according to one Derry source, the star forward is giving his future with the county "serious consideration."

However, late last night the Derry County Board issued a statement, saying the reports were wide of the mark.

"Derry senior football team management and players wish to end unsubstantiated rumours escalating in the media that Paddy Bradley has left the panel.

"Such rumours are totally unfounded and without substance. Paddy Bradley completed a full training session with the team on Sunday morning and will resume training on Tuesday night. We trust this terminates any speculation escalating in the public domain, and that management and players are enabled to concentrate on their sole focus of the qualifier game taking place on Saturday."

Frustration with tactics employed, the possibility of being deployed further out the field and persistent injury have been touted as reasons behind the speculation.

The beaten league finalists are set to face Monaghan in the qualifiers in Clones on Saturday, just seven weeks after dismissing the Farney men in a stormy Ulster SFC tie and the Bradley brothers had been seen as central to the Derry game plan.

Eoin had a falling-out with previous manager Paddy Crozier but eventually returned after the issue was solved, but the older sibling has long been a mainstay of the Derry side and has been one of the most prolific attackers since making his debut in 1999.

Derry laboured against Tyrone in their Ulster semi-final and they now face an extremely difficult date with Seamus McEnaney's side, who beat Armagh last Saturday evening.

Paddy Bradley spent much of the winter in Australia but cut his stay short to return to the Derry panel.

However, he was afforded little in the way of game-time in the league with Cassidy consistently stating he wanted the rest of his players to believe they could compete without senior players like Paddy Bradley and midfielder Fergal Doherty.

The Ulster side reached the league final but failed to defend their crown against Jack O'Connor's Kerry, and this saga concerning Bradley is the latest incident in what has been a tumultuous year for the Derry camp this season.

There was upheaval in the county after a training-ground incident that left promising youngster James Kielt with a broken jaw after a clash with James Conway.

A subsequent investigation saw Conway suspended and then reinstated while there was also a suggestion that the Ballinderry contingent on the panel would withdraw services.

Cassidy already has selection issues with McCusker continuing to struggle with groin problems, Paul Cartin is understood to have left the panel due to injury while Enda Muldoon isn't expected to feature.

On the positive side, Doherty is back from suspension after missing the defeat to Tyrone, while Kielt could be available after recovering from his injury. Forward Joe Gray has been called up after good showings for his club, Faughanvale.

Completely missed your post this morning.

Definitely something isn't right in the camp.

Think that Joe Gray being called up, was on the Faughenvale team in Celebrity Banistoir last year.

Did any of out media outlets bother to get a statement off the Derry Counrty Board or the player himself yesterday before reporting this as 'fact'?

his da was also on BBC newsline yesterday evening saying that he will be playing on saturday unless he is injured.

so that is basically straight from the horses mouth

It's a common term used to describe less than savoury football, football that would be more defensive minded than average. It was coined by one of the greatest players ever to play the game.
Banning people for any length of time from a GAA forum for using it is ridiculous.

Really who defined it like that?

Its not even remotely a good name for any type of football, I've never heard before it was posted here. There is no need for it either, the English language is fully of words to adequately describe unpopular or unorthodox types of football.

They probably should have played her in the Full Forward line in the 02 AI Final then!

In fairness to Derry, they wouldn't usually play a defensive style of football. Hope people aren't judging them on one match that was a disgrace.

Royal Seahawk,no backseat modding!!Consider this a warning.I don't care how great Pat Spillane was,he made a fool of himself that day by coining that phrase and it is still unacceptable.

Using the term "puke football" is inflammatory towards Derry/Ulster fans and I don't want this thread getting out of control.

Jesus, who's a bit of a Moaning Michael tonight?
Puke football is just another way of describing a blanket defence.

Blanket defence sums up the style of play just fine. Puke football is just derogatory and misleasing, (i quite enjoyed watching the Armagh team that spillane was talking about).

On the Bradley thing i was all excited for a day or so and then his da comes out and ruins my evening by saying he's back.
Shouldn't matter anyway, We'll be fine;)
