As some or all of your may know, shops such as PC World etc offer insurance on laptops to cover theft (for first year), accidental damage and hardware errors, when you obviously purchase the laptop from them. However in terms of purchasing laptops online from sites such as komplett, they do not offer this type of insurance. Does anyone know any companies who would offer this service?

    cheers

Dell offer accidental insurance. And the online retailers will offer standard manufacturer warranties. I wouldn't value pcworlds cover though, i've heard shocking stories from people bringing back laptops for repair, and never seeing them again.

Ive mine on the house insurance. Worked out nicely for my bro before. Laptop was stolen (they dropped it as they ran away), but it was pretty much dead. Insurance got him a new one.

the house insurance would certainly cover theft, but I very much doubt that it will cover accidental damage or technical faults (especially when you consider that the excess on house insurance is typically €250+).......

i have actually found PC World to be fine when it comes to issues like this.

in terms of dell, the spec of laptop i am looking for is much too expensive, so getting dell's insurance is not an option for me

i spoke to my house insurance company. turns out they will cover me for theft and accidental damage. however they do not cover technical faults. obviously the manufacturers warranty will cover technical faults however this generally only lasts for the first 12 months. can anyone tell me how i can cover myself for technical faults?

as i mentioned previously shops like PC World offer an all in insurance to cover theft, accidental damage and technical faults, but is it possible that they will offer cover to just technical faults?

    cheers
