Has anyone any knowlwedge / experience of setting up a tag rugby team in a secondary school before?

The Irish Tag Rugby Association has plans to launch such a programme, subject to demand, but I'd like to get 'the ball rolling' (sorry) come September.

    One question, WHY?

Think this would be bad for rugby in Ireland myself, Tag breads bad habits IMO

The branches have assisted Tag at various schools both primary and secondary.

If you're planning on running a form of rugby especially involving children during the main rugby season, you'd better check with the union or your relevant branch within the union.

You're assuming people who play tag want to play union.

As a stand-alone sport or as a feeder for rugby?

Do you mean to ask permission or for assistance?

I'm assuming that if it's in schools it will influence future players of the game yes! What ever about the adult format which is great as it generates interest from people who will never play the game I think getting kids to play tag is possibly not a good idea would prefer to see mini rugby extended into schools without a traditional rugby background!

Have just asked a colleague here about this.

If ITRA were to do this, they would be introducing "TagRugby", not rugby and any schools involved will have to be made aware that they are not dealing with rugby union, its governing body, its governing body's Tag Rugby programme or its governing body's branches.
