Vaccinations for Thailand..has anyone ever gone without getting any?

am off to thailand for two beek holiday with my beloved. thought this would be fine however we have been planning to start a family. well we have been letting nature take its course for the past two years but as yet nothing has happened..hence the holiday and just trying to get on with life. so i just dont know what to do now with regards the vaccines. from any reading up i have done it seems as though it is possible to get some vaccines when pregnant.
im just wondering has anyone not gotten vaccinated for hep A/typhoid and lived to tell the tale. we will be staying in good hotels and i plan to be as careful as i can with regards to using bottled water (even to brush my teeth) and not eating ice or ice-cream, since hep E is more dangerous for pregnant women and there is no vaccine for this.
    any advice is welcomed
    thanks

I'd ring the tropical medical bureau and ask them. http://www.tmb.ie/
I go there for anything and they have good advice. They have a clinic just off grafton streen on South Anne Street.

i went to phucket a few years ago and as it was a last minute deal i didnt have any of the injections.....a lot of people we spoke to didn't either due to last minute deals.....im not saying it was the right thing to do though. We stayed in a beautiful hotel. The usual applies, don't drink the water etc, always take bottled water with you, dont take ice etc. you will have a fabulous time, it's one of the most beautiful countries i have ever been to....the people just never stop smiling.....be ready to barter though!!! It's rude not to. Hope that's some help to you?

    Better safe than sorry!!!

I have been, three months in Southeast Asia. Get the jabs, why not?? They are in your system for ten years I think so you will have them for further travel.....

Oh and get your INSURANCE!!!! Believe me, it is worth every cent. I had a motorcycle accident away. The small amount I paid for insurance in comparison to my hospital bills....... MADNESS!!

    I dont know

not much to weigh up really is there... I mean you cant really put a price on your life. Not meaning to be all morbid and a kill joy etc but jeez ....

You just never know what could happen and prevention is better than cure.

Plus you will spend your time worrying and being paranoid. Any mozzie bite you get then you will be worried about... and if you are pale skinned like me they will love LOVE to get at you.......

How long you going for and what parts ??

even if you stay in nice hotels, you might get bitten by mosquitoes when u walk outside. they can pass on lots of diseases so id try get some sort of injection. i got a good few before i went for around €350 but my friend got a basic few for around €100 so maybe you could do the minimum..?

While the chances of getting Hep A/Typhoid on a 2 week luxury end trip to Thailand, there is probably an even less chance of the vaccine causing problems in pregnancy.

But to be sure to be sure, how about making appt with TMB (or wherever) and doing a pregnancy test the night before the appointment. The risks then are very very limited.

Obviously, none of the above should be taken to be medical advice.....:D

Did the typical tourist buzz and crashed a bike in Samui. Couldn't walk for a few weeks but got to the full moon in KohPhangan and got to Phi Phi and Lanta etc before heading for a year and a bit to Oz (much to my parents disgust).... :D

3 nights bangkok, 5 nights chiang mai, 6 nights koh samui.

i wouldnt hesitate getting them its just weve been trying to get pregnant and i would be disappointed to have to put this on hold. never entered my head when booking the holiday.

probably looking at just getting hep A and typhoid vaccines. would you recommend any others as vital?
see what makes me wonder is that there is no vaccine for hep E or dengue so is there same risk of getting all of the aforementioned while there is only a vaccine for two. god help us you what are the chances of picking up more than one infection!

travel is good...but can be complicated eh

no vaccination wouldnt prevent a pregnancy but some live vaccines may have an effect on developing foetus so i am reluctant to get any. however i am now thinking i could get awful morning sickness (i just dont know) so it seems the babymaking may go on holiday too. sniff.

    well see what happens

I don't have my Vaccination booklet with me but will have a look tomorrow for you. What I got at the time expenses etc. It was a couple of years ago.

Your GP will advise what is best :)

    Yea I was thinking that....

Well you may take a test, if negative , get your shots and go on holidays and have safe sex only :P

I see it must be frustrating as ye have been trying for quite some time now but a healthy baby and a HEALTHY YOU is priority.

    Don't take any risks....

I have to agree with some of the other posts - get the jabs!! You'll really regret it if you get sick - and people do get sick...It's bad enough that you' can't get jabs for food poisoning etc, cos you can get those too!
