    Hi
Is it really necessary to get vaccinations when travelling to Thailand?
We are going Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui.
I heard they are really expensive. Anyone any idea of cost?

Unless you plan on leaving the tourist areas and entering the tropical areas then they are not really necessary.

The Department of Foreign affairs suggest the following on this page

Met a girl who was in Thailand a while back and got dengue fever, sounded scary - no vaccination for it tho.

    Check out the TMB.ie
Do a search for vaccines reqired for Thailand and then compare to vaccines required for France or somewhere. Then eliminate all the overlapping ones.

Went to Thailand and got the jabs required, though they covered the other countries I was visiting too. I think it's worth it esp if you're planning on doing any other travelling - for the sake of a few quid, why risk it? Peace of mind I reckon. Said on this site before that I went to a clinic called The Travel Health Clinic on Dawson st, really nice guy there - TMB have loads of different docs, this is just one doctor and you can contact him when you're abroad if you get sick and want to ask his advice. Prices are better I found, check out http://www.travelhealth.ie/Prices. Hope that helps.
