train from rome central station to naples central, depending on what mode you take, high speed (about 1hr 15mins) or regional (about 3 hours), high speed will cost at least twice the price of the regional train

from naples central then you can catch the local circumvesuviana train direct to sorrento which takes about 1hr or so and passes pompeii on the way

I got a train the opposite direction. It was direct from Sorrento to Rome Termini. Took about 2 hours I think.
