i saw a second hand giant hybrid bike for sale for 260e....in penny farthings shop on camden street,dublin...it has 24 gears...does that seem like a fairly secent price?
does anybody know if the government cycle to work scheme applies to second hand bikes also..as in can you get a second hand bike instead of a new bike

I'm not sure on the the value of the bike as I don't know the year/model etc.

You can only buy new bikes with the cycle to work scheme.

i'm not so sure. The pdf i downloaded from revenue says all bikes are allowed incl s/h. I'd say if it was bought in a shop there'd be no problem.
You're not making much of a saving spending 260 on a bike though. I'd just buy it at that price if you like it and upgrade sooner rather than later under the scheme.

dont forget you cant buy another bike for 5 years (by which time the scheme will be gone - probably gone in the next budget the way things are going) so if you even have an inkling you want a better /bike soon may be worth waiting as nereid said

a new giant fcr will cost around €600 so depending on your tax rate you will get this for 20% or 41% off

    i.e. if 41% then around €360

under my scheme I then pay that back over next 6 months so its not a lot of money really

plus you get a warranty and in some places a free servcie after 6 months

    + PRSI etc = ~28 / ~50%
