Brother is looking for some front panels for a MK 2 transit, front cross member if any one knows of any UK suppliers.

Will a German supplier do? €80 odd yo-yos plus carriage (additional charges for items over 1.2m long).

    Motomobil GmbH

Seems like they have everything you could wish for. Not dealt with them personally, but I've never had much problem with buying computer/satellite stuff from Germany and the postage is usually less than getting stuff from the UK.

I.m afraid he's going to have to make up the cross member himself. There seems to be nobody doing them. The front cross member on that german website refers to the one behind the engine! I know of somebody who ordered it and was very dissapointed when it arrived (to say the least!!).

I did order stuff from them myself though and found them quite efficient but a bit pricey. Postage wasn't bad though.

When dealing with old Fords, the front cross-member is typically the one that the engine/front wishbones/steering rack is bolted on to and this is in turn bolted onto the chassis rails at the bottom of the inner wing.

I assume you mean the panel running along the bottom front of the van. That would typically be called the lower front panel, or a variation of same - Not cross-member;)

But a mk2 transit doesn't have a steering rack or wishbones as it is leaf sprung and the engine is bolted to the chassis legs either side. I don't know what the official name of the member the OP is looking for but it is certainly more substatial than a panel or valance being similar to 90mmx90mm box section. That's probably why most people would assume it's a cross member.

Anyway for lots of tips and advice on any transit you should go to http://fordtransit.org/forum/

They too have trouble sourcing that part and others but come up with plenty of solutions.

you can't buy a crossmember.i ordered one from the german crowd and it was wrong as said it went behind engine.sent them email no refund:mad:
i got dimensions from someone who mad there own.at some point i'll go to a metal works and try and get one made.the front panel bolts onto the crossmember about half way down and it's that bottom half of the member that rots and rot it does.on mine it's almost non existant on one side:pac:
