When one girl starts asking you stupid questions and testing your patience, and her really atractive friend is standing beside her, don't you feel a bit down when you gave a similarly stupid and thoughtless reply? I was in the same situation, and I could have given a much wittier response to shut her up.

I don't think I will see the attractive girl again, so maybe, the next time she will see me, she will think of me as the same tool that said <insert stupid reply here>

I was a bit drunk on the night, so that incident has definitely put me off alcohol.

Has anyone of you been in the same situation? Is it possible to redeem yourself from this? Do I fear too much?

    OP,

Chances are, unless you were wearing your underpants as a hat at the time she wont remember it.

Keep the alcohol under control and be yourself - and don't try to have the "killer lines" all the time.

No, I don't do it in the first place, whether someone is pretty or not.

If you read the OP he isn't concerned about the person he gave a stupid and thoughtless reply to. He is concerned that her pretty friend heard and
    now thinks hes an ahole.

Solution to people not thinking you are an ahole: don't act like one.

I was just wondering how much can people remember a*holes ;) 1 year? two years?

I don't memorise a*holes, I have about a trillion more important things to wreck my head about. If I remember a stupid comment someone gave me, I remember the comment, not the person. Then I draw a pretentious comic based on the comment or a lame joke to tell at work.

I realised long ago that many other people don't act in the same way. It would be great to know how much they remember stupid encounters, so that I would know how much I should push myself not to act an eejit :D

Well I'm pretty sure I'd have forgotten you already if you hadn't bumped the thread if that helps? If people keep bumping it more people will find out and remember.
