Myself and a friend are flying to sydney round the end of september. Were either going to fly with etihad airways or singapore airlines. The singapore airlines webpage when booking shows you the plane types. I presume the a380-800 is the best to go for if possible. The opther choice is the boeing 747-400, or changeing from one to the other in singapore. Would you lads have any opinions on which to go for. Etihads page dosen't show the plane type.

Etihad use an A330 from Dublin.

What are you so worried about A/C type for, they are mostly the same for pax comfort.

The new Airbus by Singapore Airlines from Heathrow is a world apart from any other airline.

I recently flew the Singapore Airlines new Airbus double decker from Heathrow and it was excellent. The seats are more comfortable, the entertinament system is much better and clearer to see. Its also quieter. We also had exit row in front of a bulkhead. It was fantastic.

We came back through Amsterdam on their older Airbus which was a significant let down.

You can also fly Air France through Paris from Shannon and Dublin with Cityjet(owned by Air France) as Heathrow terminal 3 is a nightmare of a place.

Etihad use the A330-200 out of DUB and then a A340 from Abu Dabai to Sydney. Excellent service

I fully agree with the comment on Singapore Airlines, top class service. Its worth stopping over in Singapore also, they dont charge extra and a few days there is perfect to break up the journey.

Anyone flew on the Qantas A380 yet? Am going down under myself and am thinking of Heathrow to Sydney with Qantas on the A380.
