    Guys,

Just bought a spares vehicle up in the north and need to transport it down to kildare.

I've been quoted too much from a recovery crowd and so i looking to hire a trailer to bring it down myself.

Any recommendations of a location to hire form, between naas and dublin.

    Thanks
    Landy

A-z never repied to my emails, so I got one from Haven hire in Maynooth.
Bloody monster of a trailer, but did the job.##

Most of them places don't reply to emails, I dont see the point in having them listed.

What kind of trailer and what they charge?

I got quoted 70 euro for a 14' * 6' beavertail for the weekend a few weeks ago from watson hire in donegal...expensive enough I thought.

At around about €3750 for one of those beaver tail jobs to purchase, I don't see €70 as being all that expensive for a weekend, assuming it's in good nick and everything's working as it should.

Closer to Dublin, you'd be paying about €50 a day for one....and I've never paid less than €90 for a full weekend rental.

I had a pain in the arse borrowing and renting so I just bought one instead last week for €1500 second-hand, with a new floor ready to fit. I figure I'll easily have my money back within the next 12 months based on what I spent renting before, on diesel to collect etc.

Thats why I thought it expensive, if its €3750 to buy new and you hire it out at €70 a weekend then thats it paid for in 12 months. If you hire it out during the week as well then its paid for in a lot less time. A 6 ton dumper is only €80 a weekend and it is a lot more to buy new than a trailer so I don't see the reasoning behind it. Well apart from being out to make as much profit as possible!

You should buy one and go into the hire business.

I think that's a bit of a simplistic view to be honest. You're ignoring all of the costs associated with running a rental business, from premises/yard through security and insurance, staffing costs, then you'd have tyre wear and tear, maintenance and service parts and so on....

I'd reckon a rental trailer wouldn't really be paid for in much less than 3 years if you take all things into consideration....

€70 for a weekend is good value lad.
