Cheap Turbo trainers

Any good or do they just shred the back tyre?

I spotted this one on ebay. Nice & cheap but is it worth it?

Was planning to use it when I am on babysitting duty for 30-40 minute sessions.

It would be advisable to use an old tyre on the turbo. Easiest thing would be to have an old wheel & tyre that you can just swap out.

I find them very hard to use. They're REALLY boring. Although for £30 you can't really go wrong...

I've never used one in warm weather - you'd really want to be outside on it during the summer.

Even in the winter, beside an open door, you'd be sweating like a paedo in a barney outfit after 5 mins.

I think I just pee'd a little laughing at that.

I hate using Turbo Trainers but from time to time it is a necessary evil - I bought a cheap one before (around €90 on CRC) and it was terrible, the resistance felt terrible and sounded like a 747 taking off - it was wind/cheap magnet based. Since then I got a Saris Fluid2 trainer and although still horribly boring it had decent resistance feeling and I could watch DVDs without earphones in.

As said before this sounds like a 747 taking off and that mightn't suit babysitting? Having said that, thats exactly how I use mine!:)

    How about sweating like:

a lesbian in a fish shop

    a priest in a playground
