Alright lads, i've decided it's time to upgrade my 3 year old Dell lappy that's struggling to do what i want it to do. Seeing that i want as much power as possible and no longer need it to be portable, i've decided a tasty desktop is the way to go.
As the title suggests, i've been looking at the XPS 430, which seems to be priced well, and i've been looking at the below spec for €769
    Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Core Processor Q8200 (2.33GHz, 1333MHz, 4MB cache)
Genuine Windows Vista™ SP1 Home Premium (64 BIT) - English
    Microsoft® Works 9 - English
    1Yr Premium Warranty Support
    Display Not Included
    4096MB 1067 MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [4x1024]
640 GB Serial ATA non Raid (7200 Rpm)
    512MB ATI® Radeon™ 4850 Graphics card
    16X DVD+/-RW (Read/Write DVD, CD)

Now, it's no core i7 but i figure, for the price the Q8200 is a reasonable processor, and the DDR3 ram is nice for "future proofing". I basically want a PC that will last me at least 3 years, will play some games like GTA4, Crysis etc etc. I wouldn't want to spend crazy money on a high end graphics card, but do you think the 4850 is adequate?
Can you recommend anything better for the money? And is it a decent deal for 769 all in?
    Cheers,
    Alan.

PS: As far as i understood it, if you buy a machine with Vista Home Premium or above after the 1st of July you will get a free* upgrade to Windows 7 in October? Does anyone know if this is applicable to all Dell machines bought with Vista?

You can get 10% off with this voucher:
    KRZHSR9WFP4DL? (expires July 8)

It brings it down to €692.10

You can knock another few quid off if you buy through the EPP, but it's only 3% so around €17.

Yeah it works for me. Are you including the "?" at the end?

It works fine for the PC in question, just double-checked it.

There are conditions for it (minimum price, model range etc) so it won't work for every item on Dell. But it works fine for this XPS.
