UK sim in iPhone?

I bought an iphone 3GS last friday but am thinking my excitement might be short lived! I just found out today that my job are moving me to the UK office 2 days a week. Would it be possible for me to buy a 02 UK PAYG sim and use in my iPhone? I dont want to incur ridiculous roaming charges and will need to use my phone when over there!

Also even worse there is a slight possibility that in a couple of months I may have to move with my job to the UK! Where will i stand contract wise..Will i have to pay the full amount of the contract to get out of it!

I am almost regretting my frantic chase around Dublin for my 3GS now :(

Pop onto talk2o2 (if you haven't already) and have a chat with the guys there (the peeps you need have their names in red)...they may be able to come to some agreement with you...if not in the short term 2 days a week...certainly maybe if you are moving permanently.
I have found them very helpful....not the same problem but worth asking them.
I guess they would want proof from your company to confirm your status but they might be able to help you out!

You could always return the phone if you are still within your 14 day cooling off period. Not the best option as you've only gotten your new toy but if you do end up moving to the UK full time then you'll be screwed with regard to your Irish O2 Contract and at least then you'll be able to buy one in the UK.

If you are on a bill you probably will have more problems as you have the phone at a discount rate and have only just started an 18 month contract....in this case you might be better off returning it if you can but check with the O2 lads and see what they say....you could always see if they would be willing to do you a deal if you had a PAYG phone seen as you have paid for the phone upfront.

Just a matter of interest...has anyone tried just putting an O2 UK sim in the iphone to see if it works....I know when I moved back over to Ireland I took my O2 UK locked phone with me and an Irish O2 sim worked no bother....now that was a bog standard phone but you never know :)
