SKY & Humax - better solution than multiroom?

    All,

I need some guidance as to my best strategy for getting multiroom satellite TV.

I'm currently an NTL subscriber using digital+ as it is called.

I am considering getting satellite instead.

I was attracted to the freesat HD+PVR option provided by HUMAX, because of the PVR features, the HD content (NOTE TO SKY I will NOT pay extra for HD content, especially since the vast majority of content is now created in HD in any case) and the lack of ongoing charges.

I was attracted to Sky because of the terrestial channels, the ease and low cost of installation (call sky and they will provide dish, installation, etc) and the nice interface of SKY+.

So - a few questions if I may.

    1. Does the e50 installation from sky include fitting the dish, running the cables etc?

    2. Is it possible to use the Sky+ in one room and the Humax in another from the same dish?

    3. How much would it cost me to get a dish installed by someone other than sky to go with my Humax box?

    4. Am I crazy for thinking that taking sky for 12 months may be my cheapest way of getting a dish and install ?

    Thanks in advance to all...

    C

    1. yes it does, covers it all
    2. yes it is possible (the dish will be supplied with a quad LNB allowing for use of for connections You will need 2x for Sky+ and 2x for Humax) and if you chuck the installer a few quid for himself on the day he will likely organize the install of the cabling from the dish to the 2nd location.
    3. Not sure, check supplier stickies at top of forum and call one for a quote but Im assuming c.€150 ish for equipment and install combined.
    4. yep sky sub for a year is probably cheapest all round, you own all the equipment form day 1 so after contract you can cancel if you wish and just watch the free channels
