I also searched all the major sites, to see which was the best vaue to have the books covered and delivered....I found that www.schoolbooksireand.ie to be the best as delivery was 6.50 but all books were covered free of charge. Although it says that the free covering service ended at the end of June, some-one on another site said it was extended to mid-July so it might be worth contacting them to see if it is still on.

Have to give O'Mahonys a vote of approval, I've no connection with them. Got all books delivered recently, very quick efficient service and the covers are worth paying for, very well done.
Not sure that it's a bargain alert though, prices of school books seem to vary very little, maybe a price war is needed.

Good work. And thanks for the sites - my kids are starting Sr Infants and the local bookshop is very expensive - especially when I've to get two of everything.

I'd vote to move this to the Primary & preschool forum

Done, use code BTSWEB008 for 5% off, still cheaper for me from O'Mahoneys.

Free book covering no longer available, sent them an email.

Did a MAJOR search on this, including UK sources.

    www.omahonys.ie won hands down.

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=r9r0JDHpFj1BSguGRyUdpzA&single=true&gid=0&output=html

All my books delivered and covered for less than €100, bargain.

Link above is for Dromtrasna NS, Abbeyfeale, Junior Infants only so may not be good for you.

5 sites is a Major search?
I would not call a €5 difference between the highest and lowest a hands down win. No doubt it's a win, you make it sound like they trounced the competition.

Compared to local bookshops it is, which I can't unserstand as the online retailers are not discounting. Another parent paid €122 for the same books, covered.

UK suppliers were very expensive due to the specialist nature of the Gaelic books, didn't even bother listing the 2 that actually supplied them.

    Amazon etc were very poor.

When you consider that Easons charged 20% more I do see that as a bargain.

Also there is very little difference in the wholesale prices due to limited number of suppliers fixing the price.

Heres another site : www.schoolbooksonline.ie they are doing free covers until 15th July. Seems to be no difference in the book prices for any of these sites - are the suppliers allowed to fix the price ? I thought they can only have a rrp but surely online suppliers should be able to offer a discount .

Good find, updated as they are cheaper, though for some reason charging me €2.20 for deliver cost of the covering?

Cormicans in Athlone and Roscommon are good also.

For the last two years I bought from ABCBooks www.ABCBookshop.ie
At the moment you get free covering when you use the code BRDFBC and free delivery if the order is over €49. You can also collect at the sho, but since I am from Cork it is a bit of a drive. I did incorporate it in a trip to the Galway Races a few years ago, but money is too tight to go this year.
From my search that is the best. Don't know how long the offer will last though.
