Do you think taxi drivers should be drug tested at check points?
They check them for eveything else why not drugs?

Taxi drivers should be everything tested... oh what's it called?

    Regulated.

Crappy cars and smelly drivers should be banned

They should definetly be made do a sobriety test, specifically the part about moving forward IN A STRAIGHT LINE.

If I wanted a tour of the city I'd get on one of those red buses.

Any that aren't found to be carrying drugs should have their licence taken...nothing worse than an alco cabby...

Clean cars and clean person is a must i would never drive my car without having a good wash.
I think we also need to regulate the people who use taxis as lots of them are very smelly.
I think the taxi regulator should a have note on all printed receipts:

    Thank you for your custom.
Please make sure you are clean in body and person before you enter a psv vehicle.
    thank you.

PERSONALLY I DREAM OF A FUTURE IN WHICH ALL TAXI DRIVERS ARE NOT DRUG TESTED BUT DRUG ENHANCED AND WE WOULD NEED TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS TO REPRESENT THE WAY IN WHICH THEY SPEAK SO AWESOME AND POWERFUL THEY WOULD BE.

They don't check them for manners on the road, consideration for other road users, good parking etiquette, etc.

The amount of times I've seen them park in the right hand lane of the quays at O'Connell Bridge blocking that lane.

i think ALL drivers should be drug tested at checkpoints.

I think all people everywhere should be drug tested every half an hour. Of course you'll need to carry a drug test around at all times to test the tester just to make sure they're not on any drugs either. Even babys coming out of the womb should be drug tested. God only knows what they're smuggling into the country through the vagina.

Do not question a moderators decision on thread. PM me if you have a problem with my moderating.

There once was a man from Nantucket Cork who thought he was doing coke. Turned out to be Ketamine.
A search will bring up the post about it.

I got a hackney home one night (less that 1/4 of a mile) with a driver who was out of it on gear.
I would have been scared ****less if I wasn't drunk.
He was sacked a few days later.

That was a few years ago. He lives around the corner, but I haven't seen him since.

In the right doses speed is known to increase driving performance.

They'd be able to drive you home faster, pick up more customers and make more money.

    win/win.

Would anybody agree that stopping the taxi where ever that maybe is part of the job?
Might not look nice and it may even pee you off a bit its how they earn the money to feed the family and pay the bills.
Think about it would you moan so much if it was the bin truck or the road sweeper or Garda check point?????? sorry dont answer that i aleardy know the answer.
At the end of the day we all do what ever it takes to make the euro to pay bills and that may mean you need to chill out for a few secs... sorry but that is life..... as they say me first you second.

Act now and theyll double the value!

Drug test should be standard for commercial drivers altogether. If you need your pee tested to work on some grocery stores where youre in charge of nothing more dangerous than a brown paper bag, why not the guy with a car and 4+ passengers?

Aren't drug tests way too expensive and take too long to get results to be randomly testing on the road?

    Short answer.. Nope.

The number of prosecutions for driving under the influence of a controlled substance went wayyy up over the last year or so, afaik.

The gardai seem to be taking this one pretty seriously, Apparently a sh1t load of people are doing it.

If they check taxis for drugs, therefore they should priests' cars for children.

I think you'd want to be on drugs to even consider driving a taxi these days..

Better money (with benefits) on the social.

Poor bastards, I tried it for the better part of a year as I'd seen it as my way to retirement - its a horrible, poxy low paid job (below the minimum industrial wage for most of your time on the road/rank).

Although the roof sign is handy for the bus lanes - or so Micheal O'Leary says :P

Poor fvckers - give 'em all valium I say.

I'd prefer to see them being given maths tests tbh.

    10 - 7.80 does not equal 1.
