Quality Electric Guitar Under €500

I'm in the market for a new electric... present to myself since I'm going back to college and have to be a pauper for a while! I've got around €450-500 to spend on it. I already posted asking about neon guitars and someone suggested an ibanez rg 350m which I like the look of, but I'd like some other ideas. And if anyone could suggest where in Ireland has that Ibanez I'd appreciate it, I'd like to try before I buy

I have a strat and a tele, so I'm looking for something different. Not a fan of the les paul look really, like the sound though. I'm getting into playing lead guitar so I'd prefer 24 frets, but it's not absolutely necessary. Basically a guitar with humbuckers somewhere between the nice warm sound of an LP and a proper metal sound. I play all kinds of music so versatility is important, but not much need for a coil tap, or a single coil pickup.

I also don't *have* to spend €500, if something good is cheaper I can grab a pedal or two as well, so suggest away. (ps I don't want a pacifica and a microcube!)

Oh and I'd rather get it in an actual shop, in Dublin or everest in Bray. So xmusic/instrumental/musicmaker/Jimi's etc. I don't have a credit card so it's a pain getting prepaid ones, and they only go up to €350.

    Cheers in advance

First thought was an ibanez... a S or SA model, possibly even a RG but some of the s's ahve a mahogony body, choice of a hard tail, trem or locking trem, 24 frets, single coils/humbuckers, nice finishes and feel

very versatile guitars with tonnes of options and features and available around that price

Deffinitely some form of Ibanez is called for here. Great guitars. Check out adverts.ie for a second hand one for better value. Only 22 frets but this would probably be a decent start:

Schecter are quality, don't think there are any stockists in Ireland, but there are a few on adverts.ie.

Cheers for all the advice. I went to xmusic yesterday intending to pick up an ibanez, tried out a couple of them but they weren't doing it for me at all. Tried an SG too, which was good, and a fair few others (I was there for a couple of hours, I don't get out that direction much so i made the most of it) and settled on a cort kx1q. fantastic sound, mahogany body, 24 frets, emg hz pickups with coil tap.

Xmusic said it would be 499... so I got one off adverts for 280. Absolute bargain! Had enough left over to look at pedals and ended up getting the Blackstar ht dual which sounds fantastic (Would want to for 189 quid).

On a random note I tried a fender blender... €135 for the worst fuzz I've ever heard??? Am I missing something with it or what?

Anyway cheers for all the advice!
