    That's a cool idea!

Wait until Google Street View is working and maybe we'll be able to vicariously ride the climbs from the comfort of the interweb! :D

Kiltiernan to Glencullen, that'll put manners on you.

Edmondstown Road up to Pine Forrset / Stocking Lane

Deputys Pass N11 @ Jack Whites to Rathdrum

The killer hill in the North County, The Naul

The Embankment N81 and the other side, Saggart to Brittas

The N11 Glen of the Downs to Kilpeddar

    I like this.

    A few that are missing

Devil's Elbow, from near the climb you've called 'Prince Willie's Seat' to Glencullen. along Bridge/Barrack Road

I'd rate that a 2 from the South, a 3 from the North.

I'd add the Viewpoint, top of Stocking Lane/Edmondstown Rd.
3 from Stocking Lane, 2 from Edmondstown Rd

There are also a bunch of routes up from Bohernabreena Rd to the Featherbeds.

I'd rate Shay Elliott a 2 or 3 from the east, and closer to a 1 from the West.

Slieve Maan is more of a 1 from both directions.

Twice last night, and once from the Ballyedmonduff side. The joys of Hill practice !

Up onto shoulder of Djouce mountain, from Enniskerry side. Haven't done it for a while but when I did it felt like a 1 !
Leaving Enniskerry village heading towards Glencree - serious hill, esp at beginning !

That's Old Long Hill, it's not too bad, but ramps up quite strongly at the end. But overall it's quite short, I'd rate it a 3, possibly a 2 for the kick at the finish.

    I'll suggest

Knockmaroon Hill, Chapelizod, from the east

    and

Somerton Lane, near Strawberry Beds, from the south

Both probably 4, because although they're steep they're very short - still useful for quick uphill pushes as part of a training loop.

Also, is there a pattern to the colours of the markers on that map?

    They are rated 1, 2, 3 and 4.

EDIT: And a HC for Kippure.

I thought that but then some of the numbers didn't seem to match up with the colours. I think it's just that it gives alternative approaches to the summits, or it might just be me not reading it properly...

Is the pink "Power Station" climb off the wicklow gap doable on a roadbike? Is it a bit like the climb to the mast on Kippure?

I didn't think it was, we talked about it the last time I was up the wicklow gap. There were certainly a lot of walkers on it that day and I would be hesitant about descending with so many around.

    Hey,

I'm new to cycling, got into it cause i realised it was my best discipline in Tri. I love cycling in Wicklow but after searching for some maps with the climbs rated and finding nothing I decided to make my own.... So here it is...

    http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=107478191275932676795.00046db69db36a273e806&ll=53.042039,-6.350098&spn=0.292285,0.617294&z=11

Any comments are welcome. I think in general my ratings are high compared to TdeF ratings, let me know if you think I should change any or add new ones. My list is by no means comprehensive :D

    Good work!

    Thank you :)

Peter (I'm too fat to Climb....but can't resist a challenge)

Do get onto that road do you just turn off the R117 at Kiltiernan and take the R116 to Glencullen? Have memories of that road being steep but never cycled it so will stick on the agenda for next week sometime.

@n-dawg - great idea, thanks for posting the thread.

Is Howth Head really only a 4 or a 3 depending on direction? Never cycled it myself but from what I'd read in threads on here I thought it might be tougher than that.

There's a good hill up from the cemetary in Boharnabreena, haven't been on it for a while but I'd say it's a 3 from memory.

Shay Eliott and Slieve Mann have to be both a 1 for me (though I've only done them from the south) even just due to their length, they're certainly both tougher than Wicklow Gap.

You've got me curious about the Power Station now....if I get confirmation that it's ok to do on a road bike, I'll have a lash at it some evening when there's hopefully less pedestrians around.

    colours were

    green at hardest 4
    blue at hardest 3
    red at hardest 2
    purple at hardest 1
and pink at hardest HC (I dont think they can really be compared to Alpe d'Huez etc though)

The Power Station climb is do-able but the descent is very very doggy

I'll start putting those other climbs mentioned up and I'll adjust the grades on Slieve Maan.

Shay Elliott from the East/Laragh direction is significantly easier. At least that's what blorg said the last time I was out.

    Did I believe him? No.

Was he telling the truth? Yes :pac:

Has anybody cycled Horans Ln? Just spotted it there. Its the climb from the N81 near Tallaght to Bohernbreena? Looks steep from the map

Think I did that one with Blorg.
