    Hi All,

I work for DePaul Ireland, which provides emergency accomodation for homeless men in Dublin. We are looking for information on where the best place would be to get second hand computer donations, or if anyone knows of anyone who is donating them. Any information would be appreciated. We will be putting the computers to good use, we will help the residents to attain computer literacy skills.

    Kind Regards,
    Withnail 83

    hi,

the best place I can think of to ask would be adverts.ie, or start asking local business that may be thinking of trashing old machines. ITs always seem to be junking equipment.

    Hi Overheal,

Thanks for your reply. I was on adverts.ie earlier and there is nothing there at the moment.

the only other place i was going to suggest is craigslist but outside of the US the site really does poorly, activity wise. Again though might be wise to check the local IT/College, school etc. or businesses that might be able to donate material.

There is an Irish business which takes businesses out of date computers and gives them to schools... I'd say they'd be worth a go, if i could only think of their name!

Maybe someone else might know of them, i'll write back later or if i don't pm me and i'll get it for you

Perhaps you could put up a Wanted advert on there.

You could try contact some of the recycling companies, I used to refurbish PCs for one many years ago which were then sold on. There is not much of a market now for second hand pc's so they may be willing to donate them to a good cause such as yourself. You could also try the it department of government depts, the hse etc but they may be reluctant to part with hard drives for obvious reasons.
