Rear brake pad sensors?

Anyone know if there are rear brake pad sensors on a VW Passat (04)?
There is no cable and I can't see any sensors. The rear pads were changed recently and the warning light comes on intermittently. I had the fronts done before x-mas and there was a warning light when the pads were too low. the pads were changed and the warning light went off.
The rear pads were changed last week and the warning light is coming on intermittently but my mechanic believes that there are no rear sensors !!??
We plugged the car in to a diagnostics reader and there are no faults showing. (This is not VW garage diagnostics equipment).

    Cheers for any advice.

No sensors in the rear AFAIK.

I had the same problem with an 04 Passat a few weeks ago. There was sensors on the front on both sides on the car where some only have sensor on LHS.

Might be an idea to check brake fluid level as this can also make the brake warning light come on.

It is under the window with a yellow cap and built into the window scuttle.

Cheers, yeah I checked the fluid as well but no luck. It's juat that the timing of the warning light is in line with the rear pads end of life. Amazing that there are no sensors on the rear though. Will look at the sensor again tonight.
