when i buy my scope, will mosts mounts suit my rifle??or how do i choose my mounts??

That would be a very good scope, but it might not be for everyone.
Of course it also depends on what you want to shoot and how far away.
If you were fairly inexperienced with centerfire rifles and don't expect to shoot much further than say 250yds you might be better off with a simple scope such as a 8x56 schmidt & bender.
Advantages would be, that there is nothing to adjust or fumble around on the scope prior to taking a shot. One can concentrate 100% on what you are shooting at. Of course much quicker too.
If you buy a second hand schmidt (or zeiss/Kahles/swarovski) you have a very good chance to sell that scope again later for the same price.
These scopes are brilliant in their optics, great for low light and in your price range.
After gathering experience one can always go for a tactical/target style scope with target turrets, paralax adjustment, illuminated reticule and ballistic charts.

Too low and the objective will touch the barrel, too high and you will get a bad cheek weld on the stock of the rifle.

If you give a better description of your rifle and the scope you intend to buy, somebody here can advise you better.

if your not into twiddlin parallax and elevation and windage knobs I would seriously take a look at this http://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=L451440vx111mp its well within your 500 squid budget.
I have one on my 7mm08 for the deer and its a no mess no fuss kind of scope..Crystal clear and very light and more than enough zooms to get you a 300yd bunny from a 223...
mine is mounted on the same action that you have so if you need a hand with mounts and rings pm me and i will show you what i have.....

Good luck....Its not easy choosing your first scope...

what mounts exactly?lot or burris mounts available
I'd suggest a set of picatinny or weaver bases, lot of companys producing them and Leupold medium PRW Weaver style rings or if you have a bit more cash to spend try to get a picatinny one piece rail(base/mount),again lots available for 700(yours is a short action,SA)
If you do go for a rail you would probably get away with low PRW Leupold rings although medium would be a safer bet if your already thinking of your next gun ,Above options may be slightly heavier than some but rock solid and dependable
And just in case,Weaver style rings will fit on a picatinny base but picatinny rings wont fit weaver style base, recoil slot is wider on picatinny
If your still thinking of Leupold try JJKShooting supplies in UK,one of the cheapest for leupold gear, have ebay shop also and open to offers
Sorry cant comment on Burris scopes,no shooting experience with them
