August bank holiday - suggestions needed

    Hi,

I am looking to go on a break from Wednesday 29th July for 3 nights - sort of the bank holiday weekend!

I have just been through Ryanair and Aer Lingus and flights, except to the UK, are ridiculously expensive for 3 nights.

I am looking for somewhere in Ireland that you could suggest or alternatively somewhere in the UK accessible by ferry or plane, the only exception is Edinburgh as I have just been.

We are in our late 20's and looking for somewhere lively, but not hedonistic, with a good selection of pubs and restaurants. A nice bit of scenery would be good too or even a bit of an activity break.

    All suggestions welcome.

    Cheers,
    Tom

    Galway it is so.

What more could you want from a city?

City Life, Beach Life, Rural life and beautiful scenery only a few minutes drive out into Connemara and North and West Clare.

Easily accessible by Train, Bus, Car or even Plane.

How about take a ferry to the UK and stay in Chester, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff? Cheap as cheaps these days as long as you take an early slow ferry instead of a prime time fast ferry.

LD Lines to France are only from €79 each way. Shame the journey is between 11hr and 14hours each way. You could have gone to Brittany.

How about Ryanair to Brittany, Biarritz?

Manchester or Leeds, you cant go wrong with either city, dirt cheap and great nightlife, restaurants, etc, etc:)

Oh and for scenery you can always take a bus/train to the lovely Yorkshire Dales.
