Vodafone 3g performance on iPhone

Just wondering how some of you guys find the 3g with vodafone on the iPhone, todays the first day I've really had to use 3g n I've found it a bit slow loading up web pages and that, I'm not doing anything too heavy, like it's just forums and the like but it seems to be very slow compared to wifi(wifi is so fast it's great!!) but I just thought that the vodafone 3g is a bit slow, maybe it's the area that I'm in or something?

go to the app store and download the free app called speedtest....run it and it will tell you your actual throughput speed.

right just downloaded it there from the app store and the results are as follows:

on the vodafone 3g i got .35 (mbps) download and .05 (mbps) upload

that is compared to the wifi, in which case i am getting

6.11 (mbps) download and .84 (mbps) upload

are these figures in and around what i should be expecting?

If your APN is isp.vodafone.ie, those figures are spot on. The hs.vodafone.ie APN is typically about 1.8 - 2.0mbps and as such about 5 times faster. It may not be available on your package though and you would need to give them a call to confirm this. Alternatively, try it out and see if you are charged - bill shock territory though if you are :eek:

lol, cheers for the help again, yeah, i guess i'm happy enough with the speed, just think i was getting too used to the wifi like. i might give that high speed connection a try though.. but not sure if its worth it lol

just tested mine on 3's network, only getting 264kbps down and 55kbps up....pretty $hite
