    Hi all,

Hoping to whisk my other half away for a weekend or even mid week sometime soon.

Has to be beside the sea and in Ireland, anywhere in Ireland will be considered.

I'm looking at the Cliff House in Ardmore Co. Waterford as it has the required sea view & also a michelin star chef. However of course, all good things come with a price tag and it ain't cheap :(

Where else should I consider? Main desires are a really good sea view, rooms with balcony preferably and good food (not necessarily 'posh' or michelin star but just tasty, well thought out food).

    Thanks a mill!

You could try Inchydoney in Cork, Bourke's Armada Hotel In Spanish Point, Co. Clare, Sands Hotel, Rossnowlagh, Co. Donegal. If you do any kind of search, you will get a host of them all round the coast.

Kelly's in Rosslare Strand, CO Wexford is amazing, you couldn't be any closer to the sea and the food is fab! There's a more upmarket/fansier restaurant and a more relaxed bistro place...and i'm a bit of a foodie!

There are a few I can think of around the country, some already mentioned above
South East (Rosslare) - Kellys as above
    South - Inchydoney as above
    North (donegal) - Rathmullan House
    West (Connemara) - Renvyle House

all with seriously good food, and theres a variety of prices in that lot.

Just a side note travel agent speak you may need to know.

I got this from reading to many brochures !!!!

Sea VIEW means you can see the sea. As long as it can be seen its fine. This means you may have to hang over the balcony, poke you head around a corner and look through 20 trees to see the sea.

    Sea FACING means just that.

Just a little trivia for you to keep in mind.

I dont think you can beat the Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore. Not cheap I know, but if you could stretch to it, it would make for an amazing night away...

THanks a million for all replies. Having looked again, the Cliff House in Ardmore is too much of a stretch for my budget just at the moment, so I'm hoping to save up and maybe go just before Christmas for 2 nights. Def not putting it on credit card, would prefer to save up for it first.

    Thanks again

Second the rathmullen house in donegal. Not only great food, but it is also organically grown in their own walled garden.
