    Hi

I am just back from buying a set of dumbbells. My intention is to tone my upper body from my arms to my moobs/chest area. Included was 8x 1.6kg weights, 4x.8kg weights.

Was hoping someone could recommend a website that would have a routine i could follow to achieve what i am looking for or if anyone here has a routine they could throw my way that i could do. I will stress however i am not looking to have a barrell chest and huge arms but a more toned look.

    Any help would be appreciated.

so, you're building the perfect body.
most important consideration is 'muscle balance'.
For each muscle / muscle group there's an opposing muscle / muscle group [one does one action, the opposing group does the opposite action]
    eg.
Pecs (chest) & Rhomboids (neck & upr back)
    Biceps & Triceps
    Shoulders & Lats.

    Gotta go now.
    :pac:

You might find this site useful, it's not a routine as such but it lists different exercises and has diagrams so you know you're doing them right. :)

So in total that is a 16Kgs weight set.
To be honest that is a very limited amount of weight.
I would suggest a minumum of a 50Kgs set and even that will be grown out of eventually.

Cheers for that. any idea how much of each i should be doing to start of and what weight combination i should start with??

Appreciate the input zamboni but it will do me for now to start with. If i am still using them in 4-6 months then i will know it is not a fad and my invest in a larger set.

    Keep the help coming guys!!

Very true, where did you get them, you might be able to bring the back now and exchange them. Are they adjustable?

I would at least get this set, people here have bought this set for their mothers

Anybody you have ever seen that you considered "toned" is probably deadlifting over 140kg...

EDIT: I see now you mention they are adjustable,

    check out www.stronglifts.com and www.exrx.net

on the right here it shows muscles and exercises for them. http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html

On a slight aside, is there any reputable place that delivers dumbbells? I'm trading up to heavier weights but have no car and probably wouldn't be able to carry them home..
