I found an electric bike dumped in the Liffey near Palmerstown last night (June 30). Obviously the scum bag thieving bastards took it down for a spin there and threw it in the river when bored with it.

It has a green frame, but curiously, no brand names or decals or any such on it.

It's now with the Gardaí in Lucan if its owner wants to collect it though it has to be said that it's pretty shook - the batteries are gone, and it's been immersed in water for a couple of days.

Not me but fair play for bringing it to the Gardaí.

Yeah - I definitely deserve a pat on the back :-) It's a heavy item, which I had to drag out of the 95% duckcrap bed of the river, then balance it precariously across the gunwales of a Canadian canoe, and paddle it down the river, and then manhandle the mucky thing into the back of my car.

The guard who helped me haul it out of the back of the car wasn't too impressed with the duckcrap either, I can tell you.

Of course it's also possible it was dumped by a scumbag owner who was fed up of it running out of charge and couldn't get a replacement battery :)

strange the batteries were gone. Not much use to anyone without the same bike.

As I said, it was a bit battered. It's entirely possible that the batteries fell off and were in the river too, sunk into the mud. I certainly wasn't going to fish for them.
