Has anyone travelled with Virgin lately and how good/bad a service do they provide.....

Well, it will vary. They certainly aren't as good as they used to be. Most of the aircraft (ex-Heathrow) are new-ish, with video on demand entertainment and reasonable seating. Space between seats can be tight though, and food has got worse lately due to cutbacks. Bring a back up snack. Crew can vary between great and indifferent, depending on luck of the day.

Gatwick aircraft are older, and currently lack video on demand.

Yeah I flew a 777 to singapore with KLM and they were excellent. Good room. Flying to Miami with Virgin and its the a340-600 so the 2-4-2 seat config is good but the leg room itself might be an issue. I have seen reviews complaining about food and flight attendants so im a bit sceptical. Its honeymoon so we might get upgraded........ I wish........

Flew with Virgin last may. Gatwick to St Lucia was an older aircraft (without VOD) but still a decent enough selection of movies. Staff were very nice and helpful. Economy seats were in 3-4-3 formation and found the lg room to be OK (I'm 6 foot) but nothing to rave about

We went from St Lucia to the US and on our way home we flew JFK to Heathrow with Virgin and the plane was pretty new (with VOD etc). Staff were fine (completely unremarkable)

Our wedding was over there and absolutely no hope of being upgraded. Sorry...

from flying both planes i found the 777 to be far superior. the plane was just very comfortable. i dont like flying at all but taking off was a non event as was landing. i know you might say that it was the pilot etc but i dont think so to be honest.
