im not being smart but why not have the christening party(family) back to your house for a couple of drinks and grub .
its by far the cheapest option , its much more personal/intimate and getting more popular as people are trying to saving money due the economic climate.
also some people find the excess at family occasions such as christenings/communions etc can be a bit over the top.
if this is not an option try
norris's and kitty kiernens have seperate function rooms
the park inn rent out the bad bobs section
and of course most of the GAA centres mount sion/roanmore

Really depends what you are looking for, We have had two christenings in our family to date, the first one we had was held in De La Salle centre, that was 8 years ago It was a Sat evening and we had to get separate caters in there also. Then 6 years ago we all headed to The old stand (Restaurant upstairs) We has a 3 course lunch in there.

As our third child was only born last week, we will have another one to organise towards the end of the Summer, what our intention is at this stage is to to have something at home, however we are also looking at upstairs in Oscars for the meal option again. We had our 8 year olds communion there a few weeks back and there were 24 of us including 6 kids there, and we were well looked after out there and it was very reasonable also.

It definitely could be the case of shameless promotion for Ned Kellys.

I'm not sure if it would be ideal for a christening as it would be difficult to segregate it from the main bar.

Have to admit I liked it just as much when it was the exchange. Any matches we go to watch we watch in there. Used to be quiet enough but very comfortable. Since the takeover its been busy enough and still comfortable so we've been happy to keep going.

Think the food has gone somewhat downhill since the takeover. Just my own opinion.

I also got on well with the old bar staff but haven't had a chance to acquaint myself with the new ones due to the premier league being over till August :)

The wander inn has a decent sized function room, been to a few christenings, 21st etc there over the years.

If you know anyone in the Roanmore club, the lads there will usually do you a very good price. They're very sound. And the place upstairs is really nice.

The showboat have a good spot in the back. If ya wanted a barbeque or just a smoking area. Been too a few parties down there and they let you bring in your own grub. Same with ned kellys in ballybricken.

Try not to speak the way you type as no one will listen to you. Text speak is not appreciated anywhere on boards or online for that matter.
