Anyone else have a Potterton Suprema 60?
If so did it pack up after a few years and require a very expensive part.
    Any come backs from potterton?

My boiler currently requires a new control panel @ €277 and it's only 5 years old. I was told I was lucky to get 5 years out of it.

    Anyone??
    ta

Don't have one but have fixed loads!!

They are notorious for the dodgy PCB's, (part you need!) The new part is a complete re-wire and pcb and "seems" to be better than the original...... but the jury is still out! I have to advise you that is illegal for anyone who is NOT a Registered Gas Installer to carry out any work on any gas appliance. This came into effect last friday 26th June 2009.
See http://www.rgii.ie/ for a list of Installers.

Its actually not expensive when you consider that a service costs 150. its a good boiler so dont worry once you fix it should work again for years

    I wish I could get away with charging €150 for a service:eek:

My Potterton pcb burnt out (big hole in pcb) in Feb during the snow. Prior to this it required frequent resets and was intermittently not working (flashing red led)
I was quoted €400 for the pcb alone plus installation. I found a UK site that supplied re-conditioned pcbs for £75 plus £10 delivery. If you google potterton pcb you will see that this is a very common problem due to design flaws with the pcb.

I would prefer to upgrade the boiler than spend €400 fixing such an old boiler.

I'm not making any comment about performing diy replacement but the main thing to remember is to turn off electricity if you/installer goes near the pcb! Legality etc was mentioned by other poster.

As for the reconditioned board, it is working fine since Feb. with no resets required.

potterton are renowned for having faulty pcbs installed in them .

about three yrears ago there was a huge recall in britain , so they could be replaced .

suprima 60 in all other accounts is a very good boiler and will last longer than most boilers ,,,,, if its 5 6 yrears old it will be fitted with mainly baxi components . not the myson crap they used to use .

it would do no harm considering someone is swaping out the pcb .......... to have the fan motor checked out ... this ive found to be a problem across the entire suprima model due to a very weak motor

I have one, and yes, I had to replace the PCB last year. Boiler was 8 years old. Same fault as somebody above. Requiring constant resets. Also got a bigger pump placed on it a few years ago, as the one that was installed on it was barely fit for the 3 bed semi I live in.

The PCB thing is a pain, but as others have also mentioned, they are still considered a "good" boiler.

I havent a clue about gas boilers and am by no means a handy man. Same problem as everyone else with this boiler and like someone mentioned i got the part(PCB) sent from company in England via ebay for 50 quid + tenner p&p. My house is and has been for several months now a sauna...simple as that. (brother by the way spent nearly 500 quid on same problem)..i have offered him free advice on stuff when he feels the need..i d'ont know why but he not very happy with me!!:(I even joined this post as i am so happy with myself..
