I've a small sloping garden and I want to level it out. Is the best way to dig into the slopey bit and try to make it level or to bring in more topsoil and build it up until its level? I read something about rototilling would make it easier - not sure what this is?

Any hints and tips welcome, thanks.

It all depends on the surroundings. Digging in might cause too much of a drop at the back of your house whilst dumping in loads of topsoil might look a bit odd at the end of your garden.

Personally Id try and level it off a little bit and actually use the slope as a feature, steps, different levels of flowerbeds etc etc.

Try posting a few pics of your garden from a few different angles.

A deck faced with railings would level it out

the part i wanted to level out initially, is for to put a potting shed on. i've never had a garden before so didnt know where to start. i guess its take a big spade and make a big wide hole and level out the soil and put in some cement slabs?

i like the idea of terraces though so i'll go off and research that - that'll be for the rest of the garden.

    thanks for your help.
