Sugar hit...

I've just had lunch. And I'm full. It was a nice healthy salad and homemade soup and I really enjoyed it. However now comes the downfall...I love having a cup of tea at this time and invariably end up having a bar of chocolate or something. I think I more want the sweet taste than need the sugar... Should I ignore it or sustitute it... and how..?? aaagh!!

I used to be addicted to sugar. I went cold turkey for a few weeks, which was very difficult and I even cried one day because I wanted a cake/bar/sweets so badly! However I fought through it. Now, the cravings are much weaker and I am satisfied with a piece of fruit.

That's not to say you need to give up sweets forever...just long enough to break the addiction!

Get a 'sweet' sugarfree drink - pepsi max tastes very sweet but is sugarfree

I am same with wanting something sweet after a meal.... WHY is this? it sucks cos if i make a really healthy dinner or lunch I feel like its ruined by the craving?
    How about dried fruit?
are you talking about breaking the really-awful-shooite-processed sweety addiction or getting away from sugar in general? I dont like sweeteners so i put honey in my porridge and i use it in baking or raw cane sugar (just for my tea)....

It brings a tear to my eye to have to admit this...I just caved and had 2 squares of 70% dark chocolate  Actually made it through yesterday ok in the end. It's very annoying because I do think it's all in my head..
I don't like fizzy drinks and I HATE sugar or sweetener in my tea. Shudder. I'd put honey in porridge but that's about it.

I don't even think it's sugar i need or want - i just love having a biscuit or a bar with my cup of tea...Damn you calories!

I'm guilty of it too and I think it's just habit TBH

You could try sugar free chewing gum. There are some lovely tasty sweet ones around now and they can make a good substitute for comfort food if you really feel you need something. It might be an easier way to break the habbit than going completely cold turkey and having nothing sweet after meals.
