    Hi there,
brother wnats me to find a good car for him around the 10k mar. Has to be diesel and under 2.0. He doesn't like alot of cars but have him steered to some nice '05 saab 93's.

He's not big on power but obviously the 150hp 1.9tid engine would be best. Any experience with reliability or things to watch for with the car? who is the engine shared with?

thats a FIAT engine and AFAIK it is supposed to be one of, if not the best diesel out there. Dont think there are any major problems with them. Saabs themselves can have some electrical issues but again im not sure on specifics.

i see celtic tuning claim to remap it to 210, this a bit excessive for the engine? i think as well they mightn't be quoting figures at the wheel.

    I've the 150bhp 9-3 too. Fab engine.

Pulls better than my 968, actually. No, really.........

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Is the Saab 93 not just an Opel Vectra in a party dress ? Surley the opel would be cheaper.

I recently got a 05 93 Vector for just under 10k. You'll be lucky to get a decent spec diesel 05 for around 10k.

For cars like Saab's (Volvo estates's & Hondas too), I think that the UK is your best bet. Theres such a huge range for very small money. Its harder to find the same spec's here, and the Saab main dealers here tend to price them too high IMHO.

as said above, whatever you do, get the 150hp 1.9 Vector model.

from what I saw Saabs in Ireland dont sell well but do in England. The price in England was a bit more expensive when I was looking around with. Add in VRT and its cheaper in many cases to get a car here. It appears that prices are coming down but there is very little between Irish and UK prices

I'd go for the vector Sport if you could. Looks better but the red TDI is class
