Is there anywhere in Waterford or its environs that we can have a wedding for 150-200 people that isn't a hotel? Anywhere that can hold a marquee, perhaps, but won't insist on laying on all the bells and whistles at a prohibitive cost just cos it's a wedding?

Actually any ideas at all for a wedding that's not the usual posh do (but for up to 200 people)...

    Thanks.

    Hi amd123,

Have you tried any of the GAA clubs? Many of their sports/social centres would accommodate that many people. De la salle have just opened a new centre. There is also the Mount Sion centre and Roanmore Centre or even the Waterford Glass?.

Also Tinahalla, in Carrick on Suir, have a big function room that you can hire. It also has a kitchen attached.

There is a Rugby pitch out past Whitfield hospital, on the Kilmeaden road, that may allow you to pitch a marquee. I know Aol had some sort of Ball there last year. I know a couple of people working there so I can try find out exactly where it was if you would like.

If you dont want the hotel thing Marquees are definitely the way to go....They really leave a good memory in your guests minds. Some fantastic caterers out there, try Masterchefs in limerick they do marquee weddings regularly and the food is fab

    Hi,
If you are looking for something very different check out www.hiddenireland.ie for old country houses off the beaten track. I dont think they are usually too expensive either. Good luck with it! :)
