Well the reviews are in and its a thumbs down for one of the high hopes for the Wii. Shame really, I thought it was going to live up to the hype.

    6.5/10

It looks reeeally dull in that video. Is there any good Wii games coming out soon or am I gonna have to finally get a 360?

Tiger woods 10 is getting great reviews. Supposed to be very good with wii motion plus. Wii sports resort will be good too.

Couple of codes for the Conduit.

The first code, changes the design of the All Seeing Eye, replacing the orangey glow with a blue one.
    NewASE11

Next up The second code, adds the "Suit" model to Multiplayer mode. This suit, tie, and gas mask-donning model is the standard Trust field agent.
    SuitMP13

Finally this one lets you play as a Drudge drone in single-player mode.
    Drone4SP

Looks lovely but single player is supposedly dull as dishwater, apparently a good multiplayer game though.

From what I can see, it's nothing special apart from the controls compared to everything on the 360 and PS3....if you look at games that are exclusive to Wii though, it stands up as a great game. So if you've only got a wii, this one's for you.

I'm in that category (ninty fanboy with 7 Ninty machines including a VirtuaBoy) so needless to say, I have this pre-ordered and was a bit miffed when they delayed it 'til July 10th.

A friend of mine living in Canada got it and he's loving it so far. The main question on my mind was "is it better online compared to the current best...CoD:WaW?"....he reports that it's way better so that's encouraging.

The hype was mad alright and the talk of it being the Wiis halo is unrealistic....and yet maybe closer to the truth than we're comfy with:

    1) Generic FPS? Have you played the halo games recently? Halo sold bucketloads because it was a generic FPS - what it did get right at the time was online deathmatches, good control and fancy graphics, compared to what was about at the time.

    2) Wii owners right now have two, maybe three online FPS (World at War being the best even though MoH:H2 has better controls - I haven't played Quantum of Solace). From all the previews I've read, these things are confirmed; there's 12 player online; control is as tight as you want it and supposably better than MoH:H2 and Metroid 3; its graphics put a lot of 1st party games on the system to shame...and all compared to what is about at the time.

My point is that on paper, this is the Wiis Halo. I have no doubt it's gonna do well even if it's as generic as a midget in a bikini...talking to your squad of mates in a 6-person team while co-ordinating attacks without the need to fire skype up on the laptop, running around what's reported as "Perfect Dark shades" of run and gun action....

I'm Ninty to the core and have shunned most other products without that brand name....I know not of the joys people tell me of owning a device that may magic the above experience into my livingroom.

Ninty is years behind microsofts online solution....how many?
.....when did the first halo come out? ;)

sounds good to be honest and the problem with all FPS on consoles and PC is that if you're a beginner, you get murdered! with the wii controls, you might have a chance!

The online matchmaking is based on ranking so you'll only every go against strangers on the same skill level.

Screw it, I've been looking forward to this for a good while now and @ €40 I'm deffo still going to pick it up this Friday. I love FPSs and there haven't been enough of them on the Wii so far but, as mentioned above, the ones I have played so far such as MOH:H and Metroid 3 were great.

well I finished the single player mode (around 8 hours). The game is nod to half life. The single player is fine, nothing to write home about, but its not a bad way to spend 8 hours either. The controls work really well, especially throwing grenades (throwing action with the nunchuk).

The stroy line is typical FPS.....the settings in Washington will be lost on non-US people I would imagine (it was on me). There are a good variety of weapons and they do feel different (the rocket launcher is a waste of time...its crap).

There will probably be a conduit two, so hopefully some of the complaints I have (rehashed level designs....the same damn stairway, with the same cracks in the wall at the same place.....at least try and make it feel like somewhere new!!!) will be fixed next time.

Online play is good, although I did find one person used a cracked code which made them invincible, but hopefully cheating will not be widespread.

Had it been on another system, I probably would have ignored it, although if you want an FPS with online play and an ok single player mode on the wii, its not a bad purchase.

agree pretty much with the above

its not groundbreaking and it offers nothing new, but its a solid and enjoyable game that you'll get your moneys worth from

Wouldnt go "blaming" sega on this one. they did HVS a favour by publishing the game and providing funding.

If you take a look at Madworld by Platinum, SEGA were in from the start, obviously impressed by the promise of that game....and although short...I thought it was great fun.

I think the final result of The Conduit shows why HVS struggled to get it off the ground for so long. Yes their engine is very promising but jesus h christ, the game is poor considering all the hype. They obviously hadnt put enough time into story, level design. Just game engine and weapons.

the level design is just incredibly boring and uninspiring. instead of facing down loads of enemies in wide open spaces like COD, u'r just moving from one corridor, hopping a table, another corridor etc. As a comparison to Halo, its a pretty poor game.

at times you can see the promise of the engine as some visuals are nice but most of the texturing etc is plain old muck. and the online is like playing slowmo. ur character feels like hes just strolling around.

COD:WAW is still the best single and multiplayer FPS game on Wii. Visually Metroid Prime is prob still the best FPS for consistently impressive visuals.

The ONLY thing which was absolutely nailed in The Conduit was the control s scheme. Its excellent. It makes we wish the Wii has the 360's graphical power under the hood so we could be playing games like RE5, Dead Space, Halo 3 etc with this control scheme. That's the ultimate and its probably what will be achieved with next version of Wii.

It's not a bad game, the sequel I'm sure will improve alot of the shortcomings. It's good fun online with Wii Speak and when there's no hackers around. Does anyone here play it online? PM me if you're interested in a few games.
