Only worked part-time. Am I entitled to anything?

I worked part-time, 10 hours a week teaching in an adult education centre and I was paid through the VEC which was a decent enough rate.

I had been working there for the last two years but my contract was cut short last week due to cut-backs. So, I'm unemployed now but my contract will hopefully be renewed again in September.

    My Question:
Does anybody know if I'd be entitled to anything because I only worked 10 hours per week?

*If anyone is wondering why I only worked 10hrs a week, it's because I have a couple of lovely children to be a Mammy to. :D

Entitlement isn't based (at all) on how many hours you worked.

It is based on how many weeks you've got PRSI credits (aka "stamps" for). But I think there's something about average earnings too (there was something in the paper recently about some ex-VEC staff getting less than full rate because their wages two years ago were low).

It may (depending on number of credits) depend on your partner's earnings too.

The only people who really know what you're entitled to are Welfare. Go see 'em.

    Good luck.
