If emirates don't do changes (which is strange) then you have two choices.

    1. Chance it... Unlikely you'll succeed unless you have other ID in both names, and then still pretty unlikely.

    2. Buy a new ticket, and argue the toss with them on your return.

Actually most airlines don't allow name changes but in Ireland we're used to low-cost flying which tends to allow it (for a price).

Most airlines will charge you a cancellation fee and then you rebook your ticket (using the correct name this time). Beware though that if the flight is full, you may not get your seat back as you'll be dropped to the back of the queue (if there is one).

Most airlines are used to people turning up with JOSEPH SMITH on their passports, when the tickets have been booked as JOE SMITH.

If the names are similar, or a common derivative of the name, it should be alright - but unfortunately we have no way of knowing how similar the names are :)

IMHO 'jack' and 'john' could be treated as the same name. I personally wouldn't have a problem with this but if the person at the desk doesn't know that some people interchange these names then you may have a problem.

ye we already rang up and they said they wouldnt accept it.but maybe if we put the ticket in the middle all bundled up the person might not notice...
