Did any body hear that mircosoft said that you can scan your own stuff and use it in the game like a skateboard. If so you could scan your airsoft gun, holster, vests etc and play FPS :) that would be a really cool feature.

its microsofts new kinda interactive wii feature, except its actually responsive.

Saw the demo and press release and it looks the business.

Afaik its completely possible to scan kit into the game. However a serious amount of work needs to go into pre rendered model frames so it can recognise most stuff.

I'd expect the cods or rainbow six of the future to have this feature where you can scan yourself in, then aboslutely ahnihalate your sitting room jumping for cover.

I'd say when you try to scan an AUG though the xbox will get 3 rings and implode.

Heh, cue all the 15 year olds on CoD running around with rude shaped weaponry.

More likely sub compacts than sniper rifles Id guess.

Can you imagine TF2 on Natal? Jumping up and down with a baseball bat :D

This sounds as pointless as that shooting the screen crap...

you want to run around in tac gear go do it outside and get fit... this is just another step towards lazyness and lack of actual effort.

Rainbow Six already has that feature on the PC version. It uses the webcam and a series of reference points which it gets you to manipulate to create a rather excellent 3D rendering of your head. The singular flaw it had was that if you used it, you lost lip-sync in the cut scenes. Easy trade off.
The scan-in feature has been doing the rounds since Rare tried it out with Perfect Dark back on the N64. Flat texture mapping, like that of a skateboard, is simple. All you're doing is scanning a picture really. Items like rifles would be fairly impossible because of, as Doc said, it would need a frame to be rendered over.

What is actually is a HUGE step forward in AI along with the creativity and future features for video games. Imagine the possabilities now.

But the biggest thing is that customisation is now no longer a dream or a want. Instead of everyone being the same in CoD you can look yourself, aswell as a **** load of other games.

The possabilities are endless and its actually a very exciting prospect.

Rainbow Six Vegas and a few other games (Tiger Woods I think?) allowed you to scan your face into the game as your multiplayer model on the X360.
It made me look bald though :(

the lad in gamestop told me that you can

and he really looked like he could use some time not playing xbox

Can what? Scan in rifles? Interesting that the guy in Gamestop knew but Microsoft don't even know yet. Right now it's still a Wii-on-rails without a controller.

The idea sounds very fun but it would be just so hard to do. Although I am looking forward to project Natal.

Cue advertising footage of someone looking suspiciously like Doc sitting on his couch in medieval armour, waving a papiere mache axe about, screaming something about elves at his TV.

Oh, and worried parents phoning the child psychologist in the background.

Well, if you were given a cheap M4 model, with buttons for moving attached, and you were in a circular room with the pictures bring displayed on the wall so you can turn around and see what's behind you, then it would work
