An interesting comment on the sunday game got me thinking - do the
top teams build a team for croke park?

So, my question is -- Is croke park "the pitch" dictating how GAA is played ? If the all-Ireland final was played every year, say in Thurles, would the way Hurling and football be played be completely different ?

    What difference should it make?

How could the GAA fit all the supporters into Thurles?
Its hard enough getting tickets for Croke Park for an All-Ireland Final.
I doubt it though, to answer your question.
    :pac:

Obviously the size of the pitch affects the game to a certain degree - but I'm not sure the differences in pitch size from Croker to Tullamore to wherever are enough to change the fundamentals of hurling or football all that much.

Maybe the top teams play a style of football/hurling (moving the ball quickly, using the space, etc.) that scales up to Croke Park better than other styles but that's a different question, and might not even be true - we've seen lots of different styles and plenty of 'smaller' teams win matches in Croke Park, even if they're not All-Ireland Finals.
