I just got back this morning from a weeks holidays. I want to buy a 3gs. Are carphone wharehouse and the 02 store the only place i can buy one?
I phoned the the four nearest carphone wharehouse stores but they had none in stock. Are they sold out everywhere?

Yeah, i guess that would be an idea. However being the impatient geek that i am i want to have one in my hand as soon as possible. Also i would like to get insurance and i think i need to go to a store for that.

Cant buy them online now either, sold out there as well

    O2 / Apple are a complete joke

Why bother having a launch if there is no stock

Apparently no white iPhone 3GS were even order by O2, and most shops had run out before lunchtime on Friday.

Third time, and they still get it wrong.

And O2's never changing answer is they'll have them soon.

    Hi Daryl,
I am in Portlaoise. There is no carphone warehouse or 02 shop here. I phoned the four closest cpw yesterday and they were all sold out. I was working today so did not get a chance to call 02 stores. I regret not buying one online now :)
To top it all my crap nokia stopped working today so now i have no phone.
I tried to register on talk2o2 but i was denied(Username fishamble) Any idea why?

Ps Tell Colin i said congrats on becoming an uncle.

Edit : I would take either 3gs on bill

I will tell him later. He is at training right now. The child looks like an Old man :)

Anyway back to business Bicky! Your nearest store is probably in Newbridge and they are out of stock as of today I'm afraid.

CPW fella in Nutgrove just said he dosent think there is any anywhere in Dublin

    Looking for black 16gb

O2 won't say or don't know. They're just stringing everyone along by saying call back tomorrow and we might know. Smells of incompetence to me.

Whatever you do don't sign a contract with O2, because then you won't qualify as a new customer or for an upgrade. Best to wait a couple of weeks til the iPhones are back.
Or if you have to move now just get an O2 prepay SIM card.

Is it really incompetence or a marketing ploy. The iPhone is an expensive piece of kit. First of all you drum up a bit of public excitement in the product, then you make it unattainable due to stocking issues etc, and all of sudden it becomes like the girl you can't have. Initially she teases you with her charms, and makes you want her, but you can't have her, so you want her more and more.

All of a sudden, what was once a fleeting interest in a decent bit of kit becomes and obsession with having to own the greatest gadget in living memory, can't even Bluetooth files to another phone.

Fup me o2 and apple are clever b@$t@rds.

Updated from my iPhone, greatest gadget in living memory FACT

It's all a ploy IMO. It's all about Sale and Demand, the less stock they have, the quicker they will sell out and therefore there is greater demand. Nintendo did the same with the Wii and other companies do the same.
