UPC Digital + box - how is it different ?

    Hi there

    Im thinking of switching broadband and UPC are offering a good package as I am already with them. Just wondering if I upgrade my upc to the digital+ then is it a case of the guy just plugging in a new box ie are the connections still the same :)

    Yes it's just a different set top box. It's a good bit bigger than the normal ones though so you make you you have the space (our VCR had to go into retirement for it to fit).

    The latest UPC digital+ box isn`t that big - probably half the size of the average DVD player...

    UPC is good but they are are bit out on their timings. Have recorded a few programmes and they sometimes run out before the end.

    I`ve heard similar stories regarding Sky+ - but that was ages ago, have SKY since resolved this?

    I thought that was more down to TV stations over running their schedules and the EPG's not being updated to reflect this, not a problem with Sky+ or UPC+ per se?
    I think you can add an extra 5 or 10 minutes to the sky planner to account for it.

    (actually I think there is a thread on this issue in this forum or the dish forum)

    Yep, it's down to broadcasters over-running their schedule.

    The UPC box does allow you set some padding on the recording, think it's up to 5 minutes before and after the programme.

    It's worse than that, some programs like Eastenders on BBC 1 seem to consistently start 1 or 2 minutes early, every single day. That's just plain annoying and quite unnecessary IMO.
